INSURANCE QUESTIONS:

What Insurance Does Barrett Accept?
We are in-network with Harvard Pilgrim, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Mass General Brigham, Cigna and United Health Care Plans that work with the Harvard Pilgrim network.

If you have another insurance company, we are willing to work with you on receiving reimbursements. Please contact our office for more information.

What Will My Insurance Cover?
Coverage varies depending on the insurance company and plan type.  Most insurance covers an assessment for both OT and Speech; some include additional comprehensive evaluations for speech only.  We call your insurance prior to any scheduled visits to confirm coverage, but we also strongly suggest that members call as well.

What if I Have an Insurance Barrett is Out of Network With?
If you have an insurance we are not contracted with, you should confirm whether you have out-of-network benefits.  If you do, we can work with you on submitting claims for reimbursement.

What About the Autism Legislation?
Many insurance companies will continue to approve services for children with Autism diagnosis beyond their plan’s benefit limit.  However, companies with self-funded insurance plans are not required to follow this legislation.

GENERAL QUESTIONS:

My Child Gets Early Intervention or School Services.  Can I Still Come for Services at Your Center?
We are advocates of starting as early as possible, with as much intervention as possible.  We can work jointly with EI, or your school therapist, to provide comprehensive care for your child.  This includes our feedback at the end of each session, as well as home programs and parent education pieces which are extremely beneficial to providing the best care for your child.

Do You Do Sensory Integration (SI) Treatments?
Yes, we have a 1,000 square foot gym with 8 eye hooks for hanging equipment. We also have a sensory room with calming lights and music.  Additionally, we have SI certified therapists and an experienced staff.

At what age should I seek treatment for my child?
We are advocates of starting as early as possible. Although our average age is 3-7, we treat children as young as 1 up through adults.  For those children under the age of 3, we have a separate space that is designed with their needs in mind.  For older children and adults, we planned our new sensory gym with ceilings high enough for everyone to be able to use the suspension equipment.

What should we bring to the first appointment?
Please bring with you any therapy, school or neurologist reports that your child has had in addition the initial paperwork you will be given to fill out prior to your child’s first visit.

Does Barrett Provide School Contracts?
We are happy to provide school-based Occupational and Speech Therapy services and temporary assistance in the event one of your existing therapists needs a leave due to sickness or maternity, etc.  We also offer educational workshops and consultations.
