The purpose of School OT is to assist a child to access the curriculum.  The focus of Barrett’s OT is a child’s overall functioning.  We strive to help our clients access life in order to achieve their full potential.  For many clients, this may be as simple as the ability to engage in age-approriate play with peers or to increase independence in activities of daily living, such as the ability to dress oneself.

Another benefit of outpatient therapy is that parent reports are relayed verbally, following each treatment session, as to what happened that session and areas that can be practiced during that week.  Therapists are also available by email to answer questions.

We also incorporate actual hands-on PLAY into as much of the therapy as is possible.
