The purpose of school speech therapy is to assist a child in their ability to access the curriculum.  The focus of Barrett’s speech therapy is a child’s overall functioning.  For many clients, this may be as simple as the ability to engage in age-appropriate play with peers or to communicate their wants and needs appropriately, whether it be through vocalization, picture exchange, or more advanced assistive technology such as the iPad.

Another benefit of outpatient therapy is that parent reports are relayed verbally, following each treatment session, as to what happened that session and areas that can be practiced during that week.  Therapists are also available by email to answer questions.
